Yantian District

Yantian District is located in the eastern part of Shenzhen, with sea and land connections to Hong Kong. It covers a total area of 74.75 square kilometers and has a resident population of approximately 300,000 people. Yantian District is nestled between mountains and sea, boasting a premier ecological environment and natural resources. The district is surrounded by 280 kilometers of greenways and has a coastline stretching 30.2 kilometers. With a forest coverage rate of approximately 64%, Yantian enjoys clean air, with an annual average PM2.5 concentration of 15.1 micrograms per cubic meter, which is superior to the EU's second-stage standard. It has been recognized as a "Natural Oxygen Bar of China" and one of the first "Beautiful Bay" cases nationwide.


Core area of global marine center city
Yantian District cultivates and strengthens the new quality productivity of the ocean, actively integrates into the national strategy of serving as a "maritime power" and the vision of Shenzhen to build a global marine center city, proposes the goal of creating a core area of a global marine center city, and adds blue momentum to creating "a model of Shenzhen-Hong Kong cooperation, a hot land of industrial innovation, and a model of people's happiness".


Shatoujiao Shenzhen-Hong Kong international consumer cooperation zone
The Shatoujiao Shenzhen-Hong Kong International Consumer Cooperation Zone is an important hub within the comprehensive strategic cooperation platform of "West, Central, and East Integration" between Shenzhen and Hong Kong. Centered around the Shatoujiao area (including Chun Ying Street), it focuses on the main functions of "tourism + consumption". The zone vigorously develops duty-free consumption spaces, actively integrates with the development of the northern metropolitan area of Hong Kong, and aims to become an internationally preferred destination for cross-border tourism, a leading area for international consumption centers with distinctive city charateristics,and a new model for integrated development jointly built and governed by Shenzhen and Hong Kong.


Marine economy
Yantian Port is the world’s largest single-container terminal. As an international integrated comprehensive transportation hub and a key shipping gateway in the Asia-Pacific region, Yantian Port hosts the densest Europe and North America shipping routes in South China. Yantian District is accelerating the development of modern marine industries. As a result, a bonded LNG bunkering hub for international vessels is rapidly taking shape, China’s fourth national distant-water fisheries base has officially settled in the district, and a global bonded maintenance industry cluster is emerging.


Cultural tourism
Yantian District is the first "National Tourism Service Standardization Demonstration Zone" in China and is designated as a “National All-for-One Tourism Demonstration Zone”. It is home to iconic destinations such as the historic Chung Ying Street and the popular Dameisha Resort and Xiaomeisha Resort. A series of cultural events and world-class sports competitions runs throughout the year, offering nonstop excitement and diverse experiences.
In 2024, Yantian welcomed over 20 million visitors, showcasing the district’s immense potential in the cultural and tourism consumption market.


Life and health
Yantian District’s life and health industry is experiencing rapid growth, led by flagship enterprises such as BGI (Beijing Genomics Institute) and MGI. Leveraging the strengths of these industry leaders, Yantian is driving comprehensive development across multiple sub-sectors, accelerating Yantian’s role as a globally recognized hub for biomedicine and health industry clusters.


Low-Altitude economy
Yantian District is emerging as a dynamic force in the low-altitude economy, with growing momentum in the integration of helicopter and drone flight testing. It is at the forefront of innovation, having launched the first low-altitude scenario application service management system, achieved manned eVTOL flight, established China’s first dedicated eVTOL industrial park, and initiated Shenzhen’s first trial operation of aerial tourism routes. Yantian is rapidly building a fully integrated  system featuring comprehensive low-altitude infrastructure, a complete industrial value chain, and extensive application scenarios.


Green and low-carbon development
Driven by innovation in port-based applications, Yantian District is actively building a green and low-carbon industrial system. Its building in the zero-carbon port initiative takes the lead in the global world, and its pilot reforms in establishing a maritime LNG bunkering service system have been promoted nationwide. Yantian is vigorously developing the circular economy, accelerating the district’s transition toward a green and sustainable economy.
